Centretown Movies is an annual outdoor film festival created by the community, for the community, to revitalize underused urban space in Ottawa’s downtown. Every Friday and Saturday beginning July 20 to August 18, Centretown Movies shows popular, family friendly movies in our open-air, walk-in theatre in Dundonald Park at 9pm. Admission is always pay-what-you-can. Centretown Movies is a volunteer driven project, run by a volunteer organizing committee. The festival has one paid employee—the festival coordinator, who is hired for seven weeks during the summer.
We have four sponsors: The City of Ottawa provides some financial support; Centretown Community Health Centre (CCHC) provides assistance with staffing and administration; Centretown Citizens Ottawa Corporation (CCOC) stores our equipment; and this year Your Credit Union is our major sponsor. Friday night events are hosted by partner organizations and Saturday nights are hosted by Centretown Movies along with partner organizations.
